Contraception

There are a variety of options available to you for contraception, from pills through to longer acting forms such as the coil, implant and injections. We are proud to provide a full range of contraceptive services at the practice.

You can find more detailed information about the different methods at:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/

Contact the surgery to book a routine telephone appointment with a doctor, if you wish to start or change contraception.

Repeat prescriptions for contraceptive pills can be done at a routine nurse appointment.

UPDATE: How to take the Combined Oral Contraceptive Pill

Evidence shows that the 7 day break from taking the pill makes it a less reliable contraceptive method. New recommendations suggest no more than a 4 day break.

Taking the pill for longer periods without a break is safe and reliable.

Sexual health testing

If you are worried you may have an STI, it is a good idea to get tested, especially if you have recently changed partners.

Many people with sexually transmitted infections have no symptoms and STIs can pass from one person to another during sex, especially if you don’t use a condom.

Free testing is available at Nottinghamshire GU clinic and by visiting www.freetest.me

Vasectomy
